    #STUDIEDKILLS.               is an independent writing blog for an original character,  amelia marcy abbott,  set in a crime - mystery genre.   though not directly connected to any fandoms,  ame has verses set in criminal minds,  law & order,  the miyagi-verse,  and more.   this character takes heavy inspiration from the film serial killing 101,  and the show criminal minds.

as a child,  then as a teenager,  amelia graham had only known anger.   be it from her father with a sharp hand,  or her mother,  who turned to a bottle to cope with her husband's abuse.   it wasn't a wild stretch for amelia to lapse into daydreaming to handle her own issues.   the problem,  however,  is how dark her thoughts would turn   ...   instead of fantasizing about her future,  graduating high school,  being able to move out,  going to college   ...     in her daydreams,  amelia fashions herself into a killer of a horror movie.   her first target,  of course,  her father.   but then came her mother   —   put her out of her misery,  maybe.   the gym teacher who was a little too interested in her and the rest of the volleyball team.   the guidance counselor always fucking pushing to get her to open up.amelia decides to dedicate herself to learning everything she needs to know about becoming a serial killer.   an effective one.   learn where others have gone wrong,  and what she can do to fix it,  to ensure she can keep going,  that she wouldn't get caught.   amelia's grades picked up incredibly   —   the most successful serial killers are smart,  right?   and her style and popularity picked up as well   —   had to blend in,  but not be the "weird kid" and be too much of a wallflower.on the day she's decided she'll begin her streak,  amelia finds herself wandering the school during study hall.   this is an effort to find a decent place to take out mr. king.   or maybe dr. keene.   but she hears crying,  muffled screaming from the boiler room.   there's a little girl in there,  one who was reported missing earlier this week.   she can't be more than five years old,  tied up to one of the pipes.   at first,  amelia thinks it has to be the janitor   —   who else is ever actually in the boiler room?but no sooner does amelia get the little girl untied,  does dr. keene come in,  knife in hand,  ready to finish what he's started.   though amelia has fantasized so long about plunging a knife into his chest,  when she finally does in an effort to protect the little girl,  it doesn't feel good.   what does feel good,  though,  is the little girl   —   her name is charlie   —   clinging to her legs,  and thanking her for finding her.   the police find them soon enough.amelia finds that her (excessive,  maybe) knowledge of serial killers can be used for something good   ...   she goes to college,  double majoring in psychology and criminology,  and minoring in philosophy and sociology.   amelia goes on to receive a masters in criminology, and at 27,  a phd in forensic psychology,  before she's finally accepted into the FBI.midway through her doctorate,  amelia's father is arrested + sentenced to life in prison for the murder of her mother.   she has not seen him since the trial,  and she has no interest in communicating with him,  no matter how desperately he tries to get in contact with her.   amelia changed her last name before obtaining her phd.as a member of the BAU,  amelia is keen to get to work,  and eager to prove herself.   she doesn't do that well when it comes to following regulations   (or instructions),  but she's brilliant,  and kind.   in her free time,  she indulges in horror films,  and harlequin novels,  and volunteers at various animal shelters around DC.   she maintains contact with charlie   —   sorry,  charlotte   —   now functioning as a surrogate older sister for the girl.   she's (mostly) alone,  but really,  that's the way she likes it.   (at least,  that's what she tells herself.)she's also determined to unmask the zodiac killer,  but that's neither here nor there.
